Driftkit was born to Fireflame and Ashclaw in late new-leaf 2022, alongside his siblings Fallkit, Windkit and Badgerkit. Driftkit was the shyer of the four, often staying back with his mother while his littermates would play, but unlike the likes of Badgerkit he had quite the mouth on him. He looked up to the HRs at the time (Twilightstar, Fallownose and Cowpaw) and desperately wanted to meet them, with the kit like ambition of one day becoming leader himself.

     When he was just two moons old his mother took in Ashkit, after her parents had passed away in a fire. Driftkit, for one, did not like how his mum was paying her much more attention than what he was getting, especially seeing as he got most of her attention previously. This led him to despise his foster sister, thinking of her as nothing but a "Mother stealer", and showing no sympathy to her concerning her past. Eventually Driftkit was sick of having to put up with not having any attention from Fireflame, so he devised a plan to scare her into babying him. His plan was to hide somewhere in Windclans territory from sunrise to sunset, so that he could make her feel what he was feeling, however this backfired. As Driftkit left the camp that morning a rainstorm had hit, and as he approached his hiding spot by Sagewater valley he slipped and tumbled into the swollen river. 

      Downstream, near the twoleg place, he was fished out of the water, unconscious, by a young kittypet molly named Beatrice. Beatrice thought he was dead originally, and quickly brought him to her housefolk so that he could be taken to the medicine twolegs, where he was saved from drowning. Driftkit was still dazed when Bea's twolegs were given him back, it turns out that Bea's twolegs were actually only at the twoleg place visiting their kin, and although they didn't want another cat they decided to bring him back to their den, far far away from the clan territories. 

                                                                Driftkit only came to well                                                                    and truely after they had                                                                 arrived, he awoke in the barn,                                                           and immediately accused Bea                                                       of kitnapping him so she could eat                                                   him, Bea claimed that she wouldn't                                                    eat a "smelly waterboarded kitten"                                                     and that she "wasn't a monster",                                                       both of which Driftkit did not belive.                                                Driftkit demanded that she was to                                                  return him home at once, of which she refused, and told him where she had found him in relation to where he was now. Bea left not long after that, not wanting to deal with Driftkit again until he settled down. 

      She returned not long later, to check in on him and offer him some of her food. He refused and once again accused her of kitnapping, trying to poison him, among other things. This type of interaction continued between the two for almost two moons, and yet Bea never left him alone or let him leave the barn without her supervison, no matter how many insults he'd through, or how many kitten scratches he gave her, she wouldn't speak to him like he was a kit, or with much sympathy, but she would talk with him like he was a long  term  friend. 

      Eventually Drift started to warm up to her, not scared of her visits, and instead just mildly annoyed. This type of progression in his behaviour during their interactions continued to improve over the time he lived in the barn to the point that Bea actually started becoming like a mother figure to him. 

       However, good things never last, so before long Bea's twolegs began to pack up their farm into boxes, preparing to move away, even further from the clans, over the sea. And they planned to bring Bea with them, but not Drift. You see, they don't know that Drift is still around, after he had fully healed they had released him into the forest near their home, however Bea never actually let him leave the barn since she thought he might do something irrational. Drift was distraught by the news that his friend was leaving, he offered to follow them, which she shot down, and he offered to help hide her, which she also said no to. She told him that no matter what they did to avoid being away from each other one of them would always end up uncomfortable or sad, and the other guilty for putting them into this situation, so being apart and knowing that the other was also feeling the same way was their best option at that moment. Drift refused this, saying that it would be worse for them to be separated, but just like how Bea wouldn't leave him alone at the barn, she was not going to let him make himself go with her, no matter how much he insisted he was okay with being near her housefolk.

       When it was time for her to leave she comforted him and advised him to find his family, to go home, to go back to Windclan. And not wanting to argue on their last day together Drift promised that he would. Later on he regretted doing so, but he was not one to break his word, so after some research through housecats in the neighbour hood, he started his four moon journey to Windclan.
